This is an EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL, example of a very early Brewster and Ingraham 8 day Round Gothic (also called “Beehive”) Mantle Clock in wonderful all original condition. It was made in the late 1840s. The company of Brewster and Ingraham was dissolved in 1852. This clock looks nearly like it did when it was new. We are not absolutely sure it was made by Brewster and Ingraham as it is not signed, but from our experience that’s what it is! It is an extremely classy “early Americana” mantle clock in need of a warm loving home. I am sorry the pictures did not come out better than they did, as they don’t show the beauty of this rare treasure. Brewster and Ingramans made many very high quality clocks in the short time they made clocks. This clock is large and measures 19 inches high, 12 inches wide and 5 inches deep. It has an 8 day (rare) time and strike movement which chimes the hours on its original bell! The movement is large with heavy duty springs. The movement, plates, and gears are made of brass. The movement runs very well and keeps good time. This clock works beautifully and keeps good time. The rosewood case is especially beautiful with the veneer being 99.99%! It is very unusual for a clock this old to be in this great condition. The sides and back of the clock are also in near perfect condition. It was no doubt made by a master craftsman by the quality of the construction. The door catch is original and works. The dial is the original dial in superior condition with a wonderful antique patina. The dial has aged to a nice patina and is still very crisp! This clock has lasted over 160 years! Made before and used during the Civil War! (Also no extra screw holes anywhere around the movement). Complete with a pendulum and a key to wind the clock. The top glass is original, very wavy and in perfect condition with the original putty and the bottom glass is wavy and original! The reverse painting is outstanding. It looks so good it may have been repainted many years ago, but also may be a rare original example. These antique clocks amaze me - could you imagine any other consumer product still working after over 160 years! And the truly amazing thing with proper care they will work easily past the next 200 years!) If you are looking for a very old antique clock that looks like it was cherished its whole life – this is it! It almost looks like it was put away in a safe place and hardly used (for its age). Antique Clocks are a Fine Investment. Each one has a unique quality, as well as appreciating in value and beauty with age. You will become attached to your antique clocks and they will become a meaningful and important part of your life adding untold joy each day you own them. They can be handed down from one generation to another as they increase daily in value. Antique clocks serve many purposes other than being useful in telling time, decorative in your home, a valuable asset in your estate and above all a faithful servant and friend which will be true to you to the end of time. This rare clock will be packed very very very carefully to insure a safe delivery and the buyer is to pay $23.50 for shipping and ins. I will gladly answer any emails promptly. I have always hated that "reserve" when I have bid myself so this fine clock has no reserve and a low starting bid. I will be glad to help you set up your new clock, or answer questions long after the sale via email. A careful inspection is done each and every time during the packing process by "Wild Thing" Master Packing Kitty EBAY SITE SECURITY PROVIDED BY CJ KITTY (trained watch cat) (always vigilant) Our Purchasing Department travels throughout the United States searching for the "perfect clock"! Here's "the family" travelin' to the next clock destination A Highly Skilled Technician (AKA Wild Thing) checks the movement one last exhausting time to be sure all is right before being carefully placed back in its case.
