Seth Thomas Antique Mantel Clock Westminster Chime N/R Picture(s) and Description:

isnw_ecp jjiafelice Store CHIME CLOCK No. 79 – 1928 Hi everyone!! Before I begin the description for this beautiful hard to find model, I want everyone to know that this is not a fuzzy dark picture to hide major flaws comes with the key or bob but is not shown in the pictures serviced recently but not stated what was done when it was done who did it or known if it was even done right seems to work for the past hour but I am not an expert “fresh” from an estate sale (I love that one) listing. Instead I offer clear vivid pictures of every angle to show the beauty and character marks if any. The original bob and key or the correct reproduction is always shown in the pictures and stated in the listing. Everything that was done to my clocks is done by me. Detail of service to the movement is stated below and done correctly without cutting corners within a minimum of a month of the clocks listing to last another 80 plus years with proper service intervals. I am not just selling a clock. I am selling a time of history to last for generations. For offer from my personal collection is this beautiful Seth Thomas Chime Clock No. 79 produced in the year of 1928. The solid and ribboned mahogany case still maintains its original finish and has been cleaned only with mild cleaners and hand waxed to bring out the clocks original finish. This model is accented with a contrasting wood panel or inlaid below the dial. Shown at the 9 and 3 are step down moldings that run from the front of the clock to the back of the clock. A raised edge in the front of the clock that runs from below the step molding and ends at each end resembling an open scroll rally adds detail and balance. The case is in excellent condition for its 81 years of age maintaining only a few character marks on the top, front and ends along with minor crazing behind the case as the pictures will show. Please zoom and enlarge the pictures to see the detail that was put into this clocks restoration while maintaining the integrity of this antique clock. This clock is very large and has all the best sought after features on it including a large 6 inch original silver dial that shows wear. Raised bronze Arabic numbers and bronze serpentine hour and minute hands that were considered an upgrade compliments the dial and can be seen from across the room. The original convex beveled glass has no chips or scratches in it and the original finish machine clasp brass bezel opens and closes properly as it should. The original bob with the original two sided key comes with the clock. The silent chime feature is hidden behind the front door at the 2 and the adjustment for fast or slow is at the 12. A torn but identifying label showing the model number is at the bottom of the clock and the soundboard bares no extra holes. This clock also features a chime rod locking mechanism is fully functional and is used to prevent the rods from rattling during transport. Like all the clocks I sell these adjustment arbors and everything on this clock is fully functional and tested for a minimum of two weeks to assure that the clock will operate consistently every day for the new owner and generations to follow. This is one of the last models that came with the mammoth 113 movement. The smaller 124 movement was already being used in other models during this year and was the movement that replaced this larger 113 movement. The tempo of the Westminster chime with the 113 movement is much slower and deeper than the 124 movement. Brand new leather hammer tips were installed so you can hear each quarter-hour beautifully chime on four Mayland chime rods. The first quarter-hour plays four notes. Eight notes on the half hour. 12 notes on the three quarter-hour, followed by the full 16 notes of the Westminster chime sequence at the top of each hour. After this sequence a fifth rod will be struck to mark the hour. The Mayland chime rods are by far the most resonant and most pleasing to the ear sound that I have ever heard. An audio/video will be added to this listing so you can see and hear this beautiful chime clock. Just click on the white arrow in the middle of the video, raise the volume bar on the video and then on your computer and enjoy!!! This model is equipped with a rebuilt 113 movement. This movement is huge and is very heavy. Weighing in at over 5 pounds it is definitely engineered to stand the test of time. Another feature that makes this clock unique is the plates of this 113 movement has a rich gold finish made of high polished brass instead of a plain brass color found on other movements. All three original mainsprings in the sealed barrels have been replaced with new and the correct sized high quality made in the USA mainsprings. The movement was rebuilt about 3 months ago and I planned on keeping this clock, but just like time it was meant to pass me by so it can bring warmth to another nice home. The original stamped ST mainsprings will be in a plastic bag for the new owner to keep or throw away. The movement still retains its original hold down screws which is not common. This 3 train movement is equipped with a self adjusting lever that will automatically adjust to the correct quarter-hour chimes and the hour strike when the time is changed (Daylight savings time for example). What I do to ensure you are buying a quality clock from me. Ø Disassemble the entire clock myself completely. Ø Install Seth Thomas parts only on the movement if needed. Ø Rebush all worn pivot holes with high quality bronze bushings instead of brass as needed. Ø Install new, correct sized mainsprings and include old for the new owner. Ø Clean the entire movement ultrasonically. Ø Reassemble the clock movement, oil and lube in the proper places. Ø Clean the original dial or have it sent out to have it professionally silvered and restored to Seth Thomas dial specifications. Ø Clean the case on the outside and inside, the bezel, all parts and chime rods with mild cleaners by hand careful to preserve the integrity of the clock. Ø Apply a coat of the finest wax to the outside of the case by hand. Ø Adjust chime and strike hammer sequence properly to assure smooth and even strikes at each quarter-hour and hour. Ø Electronically regulate the beat and adjust the speed while the clock is level to ensure accuracy for many generations. Ø Inspect and adjust every minor detail of the clock assuring full function and peak performance for many years to come. Ø Test the clock for a minimum of two weeks to ensure peak and proper performance for the new owner. Ø Smoke free, pet free home. All clocks are cleaned removing odors. Ø Instructions for set up provided to the new owner with a contact number for on-going support and discounted maintenance and/or repair for your clock. Ø A link to a website for more information to better understand how your clock works. Ø A video player added to this ebay listing so you can see and hear the clock you are buying. This is a full size chime clock that measures 9 ¼” H x 20 ¼” W x 6 ½” D that will give your home a sense of warmth and charm. The beautiful design of this clock will compliment any of your room’s decors with its beauty and sound while appreciating in value over the years. The Holiday’s are just around the corner. Buy it for that special someone or even for your own collection to pass on to future generations. All three mainsprings will be let down and the clock will be carefully packed and shipped out via your choice of UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail in the continental United States only. Shipping will be charged at a flat rate of only $35.00 UPS Ground and $50.00 USPS Priority Mail. Insurance and delivery confirmation is included in the flat rate and will be insured at the actual selling price.
